Lessons of Hiroshima at the University of Michigan

The Lessons of Hiroshima at the University of Michigan

Last month, Oleander Initiative Director Ray Matsumiya shared insights from his peacebuilding work in Hiroshima and the Middle East at a symposium entitled “The Lessons of Hiroshima: Cultivating Mindful Leadership” at the Barger Leadership Institute at the University of Michigan.

This two day event included a film screening of The Vow From Hiroshima to a packed audience at the historic State Theater in Ann Arbor.

You can watch the PBS version of the film HERE.

The next day, I joined four other speakers including

Mitchie Takeuchi, Producer of “The Vow from Hiroshima”

Dr. Kathleen Sullivan, Director of Hibakusha Stories

Dr. Ram Mahalingam, Director of the Barger Leadership Institute at the University of Michigan

who shared their perspectives on peace education, nuclear disarmament and leadership development at a symposium at the University of Michigan Museum of Art.

The full symposium can be viewed at the link below. The section that features the Oleander Initiative begins shortly after an hour.
